Letter from Pastor John 10/7/20

A Ministry of Reconciliation

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:17–21, ESV)

Dear friends,
This past Sunday, we were reminded that it is our Lord and Savior’s purpose to preserve us in the faith. He saves and preserves us by reconciling us to himself, meaning that he restores us to right relationship with God. This Scripture then identifies us, whom God has preserved through reconciliation, as those “entrusted” with the message of reconciliation.
How are we called to walk alongside people this week, pointing them toward right relationship with God? What does this look like in the midst of a pandemic? A month from a presidential election? In your particular orbit of life? Remember, wherever we go we are indeed “ambassadors for Christ.”

God’s richest blessings,
Pastor John
