 Minutes for All Saints Lutheran Congregational Meeting November 6, 2022

 

 Call to Order

11:15am

An Annual Congregation meeting of the All Saints Church Council was held on November 6, 2022, at All Saints Lutheran Church.

The meeting was presided over by John Barnes, Council President.

A quorum was determined by count of signed roster to include 30 signatures and announced by the Secretary-Elect Ginya Anderson.

A quorum was declared by John Barnes.

Opening prayer provided by John Barnes.

Attendees

Church Council Members in attendance included: John Barnes, Art Mory, Kenny Lee, Ginya Anderson, Mary Rosas, DJ Schoneweis.

Absent Council Members: Stacey Welch

Presenting Staff in attendance: Mara McGee, Julia Bessler, Jackie Mikhailian on behalf of Karolyn Havener

Presenting Guest in attendance: Beverly Byers

Approval of Minutes

11:20am

A motion was made by Sheri Livingston, seconded by Len Livingston, to accept the minutes from the Annual Congregational Meeting dated November 7, 2021.

The motion carried with 30 yeas in favor and 0 nays against.

A motion was made by Dave Gustafson, seconded by Patricia Johnsgard, to accept the minutes from the Special Congregational Meeting dated September 25, 2022.

The motion carried with 30 yeas in favor and 0 nays against.

Reports

11:21am

Call Committee Report (in lieu of Pastor Report) presented by John Barnes on behalf of Mark Funderburk.

  • ASLC Profile has been revised and has yielded 4 respondents.
  • Call committee has decided to move forward with 2 applicants.
  • Pastoral applicant Jan Putnam will preside over the November 13, 2022, service.

 

11:24am

Finance Report presented by Beverly Byers on behalf of Kenny Lee (treasurer) who is present.

  • There was a raise given to the CLC teachers for their work and to attract new applicants.

Minutes for All Saints Lutheran Congregational Meeting November 6, 2022

  • Karolyn Havener was given a market raise for her continued demanding work.
  • Currently on hold, there will be further discussion regarding maintenance and repair of the parking lot, a sign refresh changing the lights to LED, landscaping and replacing the storage building.

 

A motion was made by Mary Rosas, seconded by Dana Collins, to accept the 2023 Budget.

The motion carried with 30 yeas in favor and 0 nays against.

12:07pm

Benevolence Report was presented by Beverly Byers.

  • 11% of all offerings are given to charities: 40% local food pantry and shelter/ 40% NALC/ 20% Mission support.
  • Change to Wounded Warrior Project rather than LMVFM due to their recent political statement as presented to the congregation.

 

A motion to change benevolence to LMVFM- Veterans to Wounded Warrior Project was made by Rod Parks, seconded by Mary Rosas.

A motion was made by Sheri Livingston, seconded by Dave Gustafson, to TABLE for further discussion due to concerns raised by Kim Mory and Lynn Gustafson.

Staff Reports

CLC Report was presented by CLC Asst. Director Jackie Mikhailian on behalf of Karolyn Havener.

  • CLC is currently running at ~50% capacity.
  • CLC serves the community’s children ages 6 wk to 5 yr, M-F, from 8am- 4:30pm
  • GOAL: to hire more qualified teachers to enable increased capacity and return to the previous hours of 7:30am to 6pm to better serve our community.

Youth and Family Ministries report was presented by Mara Welch

  • ASLC has granted Mara 12 weeks paid birth-related leave.
  • During Mara’s leave student activities will continue.

 

11:43

Communications Report presented Julia Bessler.

  • Our building is fully functional.
  • There are various groups and organizations utilizing the building for meetings.
  • Streaming of weekly services will continue; at least 10 people watching online.
  • The congregation is asked to please post a positive review on Google.
  • All Council minutes and reports are available for review.
  • New Bible Study groups will be meeting on Thursdays in 2023.

 

Trustee Reports

11:49am Minutes for All Saints Lutheran Congregational Meeting November 6, 2022

 

Property Report was presented by Mary Rosas.

  • Repairs of damage from the 2022 flooding are now complete.
  • Leaks resulting from the August 22, 2022, historic rain fall are now scheduled for repair by Longhorn Roofing at a cost of $15,470.
  • Roofing repairs were scheduled to begin October 31, 2022, but were postponed due to rain.
  • Eagle roofing will cover the repairs due to poor workmanship under warranty.
  • Sanctuary short lasting Halogen bulbs will be changed to longer lasting LED bulbs with adapters
  •
