Invocation
Pastor: We gather in the name of the Father and of the † Son and of the Holy Spirit.
People: Amen.

Confession and Forgiveness:
Pastor: God of all mercy and consolation, come to the aid of your people, turning us from our sin to live for you alone. Give us the power of your Holy Spirit that, attentive to your Word, we may confess our sins, receive your forgiveness, and grow into the fullness of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
People: Amen.

Pastor: Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another.

(Silence for reflection and self-examination)

Pastor: Gracious God,
People: Have mercy on us. In your compassion, forgive us our sins, known and unknown, things done and left undone. Uphold us by your Spirit so that we may live and serve you in newness of life, to the honor and glory of your holy name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Pastor: Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life.
People: Amen.

Lion and the Lamb
Verse 1
He’s coming on the clouds; Kings and kingdoms will bow down,
And every chain will break; As broken hearts declare His praise,
For who can stop the Lord Almighty. (chorus)

Chorus
Our God is the Lion, the Lion of Judah,
He’s roaring with power, and fighting our battles,
And every knee will bow before Him.
Our God is the Lamb, the Lamb that was slain,
For the sins of the world, His blood breaks the chains,
And every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb,
And every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb.

Verse 2
So open up the gates; Make way before the King of kings,
The God who comes to save; Is here to set the captives free,
For who can stop the Lord Almighty. (chorus)

Bridge
Who can stop the Lord Almighty; Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord Almighty; Who can stop the Lord. (chorus)

Joy
Verse 1
You’ve turned it all around, where I was hurting now I’m rejoicing,
And in Your love I’m found and I have joy; Woah (verse 2)

Verse 2
You took away my pain, you turned my mourning into dancing,
I can smile again ’cause I have joy; Woah (pre-chorus)

(Pre-Chorus)
Let the celebration begin. Make a joyful noise unto Him.
Come on everybody let’s give Him praise; for He is good. (chorus)

Chorus
You have given me a joy; that won’t stop and will never leave,
So I will praise You with gladness; for You are good.

(Bridge)
You’ve turned my sadness into gladness; You’ve turned my sorrow into joy
Now I’m singing and I’m dancing; and I will shout for joy. (repeat); (chorus)

Greeting and Prayer of the Day
Pastor: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
People: And also with you.

Pastor: Let us pray….
People: Amen.

First Lesson  Psalm 25:1-9
To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul.
O my God, in you I trust;
do not let me be put to shame;
do not let my enemies exult over me.
Do not let those who wait for you be put to shame;
let them be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.

Make me to know your ways, O LORD;
teach me your paths.
Lead me in your truth, and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all day long.

Be mindful of your mercy, O LORD, and of your steadfast love,
for they have been from of old.
Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
according to your steadfast love remember me,
for your goodness’ sake, O LORD!

Good and upright is the LORD;
therefore he instructs sinners in the way.
He leads the humble in what is right,
and teaches the humble his way.

Gospel Acclamation

Gospel Lesson  Matthew 21:23-32

When he entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, ‘By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?’ Jesus said to them, ‘I will also ask you one question; if you tell me the answer, then I will also tell you by what authority I do these things.

Did the baptism of John come from heaven, or was it of human origin?’ And they argued with one another, ‘If we say, “From heaven”, he will say to us, “Why then did you not believe him?” But if we say, “Of human origin”, we are afraid of the crowd; for all regard John as a prophet.’ So they answered Jesus, ‘We do not know.’ And he said to them, ‘Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.’
‘What do you think? A man had two sons; he went to the first and said, “Son, go and work in the vineyard today.” He answered, “I will not”; but later he changed his mind and went. The father went to the second and said the same; and he answered, “I go, sir”; but he did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father?’ They said, ‘The first.’ Jesus said to them, ‘Truly I tell you, the tax-collectors and the prostitutes are going into the kingdom of God ahead of you. For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him, but the tax-collectors and the prostitutes believed him; and even after you saw it, you did not change your minds and believe him.’

Words Of Institution
Pastor: Blessed are you, Lord of heaven and earth. In mercy for our fallen world you gave your only Son, that all those who believe in him should not perish, but have eternal life. We give thanks to you for the salvation you have prepared for us through Jesus Christ. Send now your Holy Spirit into our hearts, that we may receive our Lord with a living faith as he comes to us in his holy supper.
People: Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

Pastor: In the night in which he was betrayed…

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)
Verse 1
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me,
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.

Verse 2
T’was grace, that taught my heart to fear.
And grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believed.

Chorus
My chains are gone, I’ve been set free
My God my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood, His mercy rains
Unending love, amazing grace.

Verse 3
The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures. (chorus)

Verse 4
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine.
